Leveling UP | CPR/First Aid/AED
LA Unified Adult Education (LA Unified Adult) is pleased to announce that as of this past March, 20 of our career technical education (CTE) instructors, from across multiple industry sectors, successfully completed our new Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/First Aid/Automated External Defibrillator (AED) industry-specific professional development (PD) series. These instructors are now approved to train and certify our LA Unified Adult students in CPR, First Aid and AED. Instructor feedback regarding the PD series was overwhelmingly positive. Here are some of their comments: “Thank you for having the foresight of the most fruitful professional development opportunity I’ve had as a CNA Instructor.” “With the training given to us in just three short Saturdays, I can now teach my students CPR and First Aid, and certify them!” “CPR Training through an outside vendor has always been a barrier for our students. It’s a pricey out-of-pocket expense, but now I am able to certify students while in class.”
To make this PD opportunity possible, LA Unified Adult’s Alejandra Salcedo, Perkins Advisor, and Brenda Vela, I-TRAIN Advisor, collaborated with an authorized American Heart Association vendor, who facilitated the training. Way to go, Alejandra and Brenda!
LA Unified Adult is proud to have sponsored this CPR/First Aid/AED PD series in its entirety, including vendor training fees, instructional booklets, student booklets, instructional DVDs, adult mannequin, pediatric mannequin, first aid supplies and instructor compensation at the district sponsored training rate. But most of all, we are very proud of our instructors who were able to participate in this exciting opportunity.
