North Valley Occupational Center graduate offers words of encouragement

North Valley Occupational Center graduate, Anali Paredes, recently completed the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training course allowing her to reach EMT certification in the state of California. Her next goal is to become an ER technician or attend paramedic school. In the meantime, she offers a few words of advice to any aspiring students entering the world of adult education.

What would you say motivated you to keep pushing forward in your journey?
I find my motivation to keep educating myself in my kids; to inspire them and show them that when the world is theirs, nothing can stop you and that there are many people out there who can help you accomplish that. My motivation is to help others and to make a difference in the world, as well as myself; because I am the one who can accomplish this for myself, no one else.

What advice would you give to someone who may be doubting their ability to pursue their education?
Believe in yourself, act now; not later. Time is gold. If you have the will to put in work you will achieve your goals and new doors of opportunity will open up. You will be surprised how far you can get if you set your mind to it.

What does that next milestone look like?
My next goal after completing EMT is to become an ER Tech/go to paramedic school.

Anything else that you would like to say about your time at North Valley Occupational Center?
I want to thank my teachers Mr. E & Mrs. Govier, and John Alvarez for all their time and support, for believing in me, and for being part of my success. I couldn’t have done it without them.
